Battlestar Galactica Signed by Edward James Olmos by ejimenez
Battlestar Galactica Signed by Edward James Olmos

This weekend I had a table at C2E2, the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo. I've exhibited at the show every year since it's inception, selling prints, books, art, and doing commissions. Well, this particular commission was requested by a gentleman named Adam with the purpose of having it signed by Edward James Olmos! It features him as Admiral Adama of the Battlestar Galactica series. Adam was nice enough to report back and let me know that Mr. Olmos loved the art! He added one hell of an awesome note to it as well. It reads;

Sometimes you've got to roll the hard six... "So say we all."

This might be the coolest journey my art has ever been on!

If you can't tell, I've really been loving Marvel's original Netflix programs, and I am seriously chimping at the bit to get these four onscreen together. Hopefully I'll continue channeling that excitement into art! If you dig it, and you'll be attending Chicago's C2E2 March 18th through the 20th, I'll have this and lots more with me at my artist alley table, M18. Stop by and say hi! And, as always, feel free to reach out for commissions via

This is a pencil sketch that I threw some digital colors on for a blog run by a local Chicago comic book shop. If you're in the Chicago area, Challengers Comics + Conversation is definitely worth a visit.

The only reason I threw colors on a pencil sketch was due to time constraints, but it was a fun exercise, and I'm pleasantly surprised with the results. Because I just can't resist changing up my workflow every five minutes, I'm already working on a piece that will incorporate digital color over pencils. Stay tuned!

Hey when you go to scan things into photoshop, how do you make your story boards into one image, I'm trying to figure this tool out. It's a pain, and Brandon's a master @ it.

I'm not sure what you mean. Usually my thumbnails are pretty all-inclusive, but if I ever do find myself needing to merge images, I either trace it out with the lasso tool and copy and paste, or, if it's a panel, I use the square tool to select the area and copy and paste that way.
